🇬🇧 Cetinale Hermitage: A Spiritual Retreat in the Montagnola Senese

Nestled in the serene Tuscan countryside, the  Cetinale Hermitage  is a religious building constructed in the early 18th century.

  Located atop the hill overlooking  Villa Cetinale, to which it was connected by a long staircase carved into the marble rock, still accessible today, the hermitage is a significant example of Baroque religious architecture.

The hermitage was built to house hermits who lived under the directives of the villa's owner, dedicating themselves to charitable works and assisting the sick and dying.  The structure spans four floors, including a chapel and hermits' quarters.

The Cetinale Hermitage is a short distance from  Ciao Manu Apartments  and can be reached on foot through nature trails.  It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially during the summer months.
