In the charming village of Ancaiano, near Sovicille, stands the Church of San Bartolomeo, a fine example of Tuscan Renaissance architecture. The current building was constructed in 1660 at the request of Pope Alexander VII Chigi, replacing a medieval church damaged during the 1554 siege of Siena.
The church features a Latin cross plan, a single nave, and a central dome. Inside are artworks by Segna di Bonaventura, Astolfo Petrazzi, and Neroccio di Bartolomeo.
The structure shows signs of water damage and degradation, particularly in the dome and roof, and is in need of restoration.
The church is located just a few minutesβ walk from Ciao Manu Apartments, nestled in the peaceful Tuscan countryside β a perfect destination for lovers of art, history, and quiet villages.
