In the charming village of  Ancaiano, near  Sovicille, stands the  Church of San Bartolomeo, a fine example of Tuscan Renaissance architecture. The current building was constructed in  1660  at the request of  Pope Alexander VII Chigi, replacing a medieval church damaged during the 1554 siege of Siena.

The church features a Latin cross plan, a single nave, and a central dome. Inside are artworks by  Segna di Bonaventura,   Astolfo Petrazzi, and  Neroccio di Bartolomeo.

The structure shows signs of water damage and degradation, particularly in the dome and roof, and is in need of restoration.
